Victim Of Homewood Shooting Identified, Investigation Underway

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The victim of a shooting in Homewood has been identified while a police investigation is underway.

Police say the victim is Diron Hopwood, age 25, of Larimer.

Multiple shots were fired and several 911 calls were placed around 1:20 p.m. Tuesday about a man being shot at Upland Street and North Murtland Avenue.

Police say there was a full call-out for all available units.

Westinghouse High School was temporarily placed on lock-down. That was lifted after 2:30 p.m.

There's no word yet on what prompted the shooting. The victim was found lying in the middle of the street. He was pronounced dead just before 1:30 a.m.

Police are asking for anyone in the area who saw or heard anything at the time of the shooting to come forward.
