Attempted Home Invasion Sparks SWAT Situation On North Side

NORTH SIDE (KDKA) - Police say three people attempted to break into a home on the North Side, which later sparked a SWAT situation nearby.

According to police, the attempted home-invasion happened early Tuesday morning in the 1200-block of Monterey Street.

"They were yelling outside of the home and they were at the front door but the residents did not open the door and they were not able to get inside the house," Pittsburgh Police Spokeswoman Sonya Toler said.

All three fled the scene on foot.

Residents showed video of the suspects to police after they left.

Zone 1 officers arrested two of the suspects in separate locations before learning the third was in a house in the 1300-block of Sherman Avenue.

SWAT was called to the scene around 1 a.m.

"Officers were able to hail the actor out after several attempts.  He was taken into custody also without any incident." Toler said.

SWAT searched the house and did not find any other suspects in this case. However, they did recover a firearm.

The suspects have been identified as Leroy Miller, 18, of Perry North; Ronald Brown, 18 of Munhall; and a 17-year-old juvenile.

Miller is facing a list of charges including. criminal conspiracy, robbery and firearms violations. Brown is being charged with robbery, criminal conspiracy and criminal attempt.
