Highmark Will Make Low-Cost Generic Insulin Available To Members

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Highmark members will have access to low-cost generic insulin.

Our news partner at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield is among a dozen insurers that have invested in non-profit drug-maker Civica Rx.

Once its plant in Virginia is built, the drug-maker will produce three forms of generic insulin. Vials will cost no more than $30 each, and pens will cost $55 or less for a pack of five.
