Harrison Signs 2-Year Contract With Steelers
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) -- The Steelers signed linebacker James Harrison to a two-year contract, the team announced Sunday.
The Steelers did not disclose the financial terms of the agreement.
Harrison and his family seemed to have a tough decision to make.
The outside linebacker who retired shortly before last season, only to quickly return and register 5.5 sacks for the Steelers, is an unrestricted free agent.
Many believed Harrison would choose to play another year in Pittsburgh or retire. Then longtime Steelers' defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau this offseason joined the Tennessee Titans coaching staff, leading Harrison to post to Instagram about his dilemma in choosing between Pittsburgh and Tennessee.
"The opinions of my support team are split, but for me, my love for the man who both started, and made my career what it is, is undeniable," Harrison wrote. "There are no words that I can find that would do justice for everything Dick LeBeau has done for me & my career and nothing can compare to that! I also have a great amount of love for Steelers Nation & the Steelers organization. I'm going to pray on this and let God guide me in the right direction."
The 36-year-old Harrison is a 5-time Pro Bowl selection and the 2008 defensive player of the year.
