Gorman: One & Done In ACC Tournament Could Cost Pitt
PITTSBURGH (KDKA 93-7 The Fan)- The Pitt Panthers enter the ACC Tournament as the No. 5 seed after their 83-78 win at Clemson.
They will face the winner of the 12-13 matchup at 2 p.m. Thursday.
Kevin Gorman, of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, told Tab Douglas and Stacy Kauffman that he thinks Pitt can win that matchup, but a loss could be costly in terms of an NCAA Tournament berth.
"For them to be one and done, I think that could cost them a tournament spot and I think they know that," Gorman said. "Given their resume, 23 wins, the season-ending win should help their cause, but I do think that they probably need to win at least one game in the ACC Tournament and maybe two."
Gorman said that the current team doesn't fit the mold of a typical Jamie Dixon team.
"This is not your traditional Pitt team, and that's the hard part is I think looking at them and identifying Pitt with defense and rebounding and toughness," Gorman said. "This is a team that has a lot of other abilities that help them, but in those areas they're lacking."
