Man Arrested For Allegedly Shooting Woman In Glassport On Thanksgiving
GLASSPORT, Pa. (KDKA) - A man has been arrested for allegedly shooting a woman in Glassport on Thanksgiving.
According to the Allegheny County Police, Glassport Police responded to a report of a shooting on the 600 block of Ohio Street just after 9 p.m. Thursday night.
When police arrived and entered the home, they found a 52-year-old female with a gunshot wound.
On Friday, Allegheny County Police say they charged 47-year-old Jonah Reid in connection to the shooting.
"They had the crime scene over on the other side of the road. They had a couple of police cars," nearby neighbor Steve Kecman said.
The criminal complaint says the shooting happened after an argument between Reid and his girlfriend.
Police say Reid, who is in a wheelchair, was trying to leave and got his belongings, including a gun.
His girlfriend blocked him and Reid claims she then kicked the wheelchair backward, causing it to tip and the gun to fire.
The victim was struck in the shoulder and taken to the hospital in critical condition. Now, police say she is in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.
Reid is now in the Allegheny County Jail awaiting arraignment on charges of aggravated assault and recklessly endangering another person.
He was placed on $25,000 bond and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Dec. 10th.
"I think the scene in this city is just abominable. There's just so much crime," Michaelene Moore of Glassport said.
