Get Marty: Panera Issues Refund To Woman For Lost Ring

MONROEVILLE (KDKA) -- A local woman had what she called a "very unsettling" experience at a local restaurant, that's when she called Get Marty.

Josephine Etters, 84, was with a bunch of friends at a Panera Bread location in Monroeville and lost her ring. It happened last October.

"It had three stones on top. It had three stones on the bottom. It was a birthstone ring," says Etters.

Etters had the ring for more than 25 years. The ring represented all of her five children.

Turns out one of Josephine's friends found the ring and gave it to store management. She didn't know it was her friends ring.

"I looked down to get money out of my purse. I noticed a ring lying on the counter. I picked it up. I told the cashier. She gave the ring to her manager," the friend said.

That's when things got interesting. Etters called about the ring and was told by Panera they didn't have it. Wilkins Police detectives got involved and where told by Panera they couldn't find the lost ring.

That's when we got involved.

From the start, Panera was very helpful. We were asked for a picture of the lost ring and a cost. Once Panera received the information, they issued a full refund to Josephine for the replacement cost of the ring.

"Our customers are very important to us," says a Panera spokesman.

Meanwhile, Etters is joyful.

"I'm so happy. Thank you very much," she said.
