Driver of garbage truck crashes into billboard

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — One person was injured after the driver of a city garbage truck crashed into a billboard in Pittsburgh's Overbrook neighborhood.

The crash happened Tuesday at around 3 p.m. in the area of McNeilly and Liberty roads. The driver of the garbage truck crashed into two vehicles before hitting the billboard and a third car.

Pittsburgh Public Safety said a woman's leg was possibly fractured when her vehicle was hit by the truck. She was taken to a hospital in stable condition. Another driver's vehicle was also hit but Public Safety said he didn't report any injuries.

The garbage truck driver said he had back pain and was transported for evaluation.

Public Safety did not say what caused the crash, but the Department of Public Works said it's under investigation.

Public Works also said the city has a claim process for any people whose property was damaged in the accident. The form can be found on the city's website
