Furry Tails: Searching For A Forever Home (2/15)

Are you looking to bring a pet into your home? Local animal shelters are a great place to find a furry companion. So, as part of Furry Tails, I'll be doing an ongoing feature on adoptable pets from local animal shelters once a week. If you have room in your heart and are looking to bring a lovable ball of fur into your home, maybe one of these guys is meant to be a part of your family!

Pumpkin

Animal Friends says:
"Pumpkin is looking for a forever home with a kind and patient family. Could it be yours?

"She had not been socialized with people prior to coming to Animal Friends. As a result she was frightened and extremely shy. In the time that Pumpkin has lived with a foster family she has learned to trust and bonded with them. She is still wary of people that she doesn't know well and becomes anxious in public areas.

"Pumpkin is a graduate of Animal Friends University's "Fearful Fido" class. She had many new experiences, learned some new skills and enjoyed the praise and treats she received for being brave. Only positive training techniques will be effective with shy Pumpkin. All of the class information will be available to her adoptive family, and her foster mom is willing to help demonstrate what was taught in the class.

"She learns quickly and is totally housebroken and crate trained. She likes being in the car – she jumps right in and rides nicely either on the seat or in a crate. Pumpkin enjoys going for walks with her foster sister in the quiet neighborhood where she has lived. Being with another dog makes her more comfortable, and it is a requirement for her to go to a home with another dog. She likes to play with other dogs, toys and humans.

"She will need to make her new home with a family with children age 16 or older or adults only because she is still frightened by unusual noises, fast movements and strangers. If she were to get loose outdoors she might run away if something startled her. Her new family should be experienced dog owners.

"Pumpkin is a smart dog with more to learn, and if you'll help her, she'll reward you with her love. She is still living in foster care. If you'd like to meet her, please call the shelter today to arrange for a get-together with her and her foster family. They'll tell you all about what a great dog she is!"

Pumpkin has been spayed, vaccinated and microchipped.

Betty

Animal Rescue League
Betty is a loving, intelligent and adventuresome girl looking for a second chance at a forever home! She's sweet and loves other dogs and people, too!

Animal Rescue League says:
"Betty is a super-sweet, 1½-year-old bully breed girl. She found herself at the shelter originally as a stray, was adopted quickly, and then was returned as her owner had a new baby in the family and no longer had time for her. Despite all the moving around, Betty is a very happy young lady! She LOVES to play with toys and with other dogs. She is currently in a foster home where she has a foster canine brother so she would be ecstatic to be adopted by a family that has another dog. She is also reported to be housebroken and, oh boy is she SMART! She aced her exams at the shelter and is a great student in training classes. She knows "sit" and "watch" and is eager to learn. She is treat motivated and constantly looking for guidance. Betty also likes going for walks and walks like a lady with minimal pulling. To top it all off, this girl is also a big lap dog. She just ADORES people!

"If you would like to add a loving and adventurous girl to your family, do contact the ARL soon!"

Betty is spayed, up-to-date on her vaccinations, and microchipped.
