Furry Tails: Maggie, Kitty Kat & Melvin Are Searching For Good Homes
Are you looking to bring a pet into your home? Local animal shelters are a great place to find a furry companion. So, as part of Furry Tails, I'll be doing an ongoing feature on adoptable pets from local animal shelters once a week. If you have room in your heart and are looking to bring a lovable ball of fur into your home, maybe one of these guys is meant to be a part of your family!

Maggie
Animal Friends
If you're looking for a playful companion, Maggie might just be the pup for you! She's looking for a forever family who likes to have lots of fun!
Animal Friends says:
This frisky, brown-eyed beauty will definitely keep you on your toes! Maggie likes to play and play and play. Toys with stuffing are by far her favorite!
Maggie is looking for a family who will invest time in helping her develop house and leash manners. Positive reinforcement techniques are recommended to assist with her training. Maggie is extremely polite when accepting treats!
Maggie is somewhat sensitive to handling and, therefore, would be most comfortable in a home with children over ten. She also would prefer to be the only dog in the household.

Melvin
Animal Rescue League
Melvin is a sweet, curious pup in need of a patient forever family who can give him lots of love and attention!
Animal Rescue League says:
Melvin is a handsome and sweet puppy who has unfortunately had a rough start to his young life. He hasn't had much in the way of socialization with the world so many things that wouldn't be scary to a normal puppy are frightening to Melvin. He recently came back from a foster home where he was starting to learn that the world isn't such a scary place. Melvin is a smart, curious little guy and is already coming out of his shell. With a patient person willing to teach him using positive reinforcement techniques Melvin is going to make someone a wonderful dog.
Melvin may prefer to be the king of the castle as an only dog and he would like a home without children as they are still a bit scary. Our adoption counselors can tell you more about the positive reinforcement training protocols we have been using to teach Melvin here at the shelter.

Kitty Kat
Animal Rescue League
With a unique smile and sweet disposition, this pup is easy to love. She might be a little shy at first, but she needs a loving home where she can play and be loved!
Animal Rescue League says:
Kitty Kat is not the most photogenic of our dogs but she sure is sweet and her toothy 'smile' is adorable! It may give one pause at first but then you realize that it's her underbite and timid nature behind the grin. She is a bit nervous in the kennel though so prospective adopters should take it slowly with her and she will warm up and relax. She does love being stroked. Kitty Kat did great on her temperament tests and is friendly toward kids and other dogs. She was crate trained and knows 'sit' and 'stay'. She enjoys walks, car rides, games of fetch and various toys.
