Francisco Liriano Healthy, Ready To Make Opening Day Start
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Today was a big day for Francisco Liriano as the slated Opening Day starter tested out his injured groin to see if he'd be able to go on Monday when the Chicago Cubs come to town.
Liriano, along with fifth starter Edinson Volquez, pitched in a simulated game earlier today. By all accounts, it went well enough for Liriano to feel like he's ready to go for the opener.
This was an important step for both Liriano and the team as they look to build upon the success they had last year.
Liriano is coming off a year in which he resurrected his career going 16-8 with a 3.02 ERA and striking out 163 in 161 innings pitched.
Stay tuned to 93-7 The FAN for continuing coverage of the Pirates.
