Former Steelers Kicker Jeff Reed Allegedly Kicked Out Of Hall Of Fame Game
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Many former Pittsburgh Steelers players traveled to Canton this weekend for Jerome Bettis' Hall Of Fame enshrinement.
But it was former kicker Jeff Reed who captured the most headlines.
During the game several photos of Reed surfaced on social media saying the former kicker had been kicked out, although Reed says he left willingly.
Photos began floating around Twitter of Reed being kicked out of the Steelers – Vikings Hall of Fame game.
Reed joined 93-7 The Fan to tell his side of the story.
He said he left the game willingly so there wouldn't be a confrontation with a Steelers fan who he says was verbally attacking him.
"I left willingly so there wouldn't be a confrontation. It took all I had not to fight him, but people see me with a police officer and think, oh Jeff did something stupid again," Reed said.
Reed said he did have some beers before the game, but was not drunk during the altercation.
"I came with my boss and seven other guys to the game," Reed said. "If I'm going to do something ignorant, it's probably not going to be with my boss."
A photo from outside the game appears to show Reed talking with a deputy.

"I went and got three police officers and said one of two things needs to happen, this guy needs to be booted, or moved, or I need to leave the game," Reed said. "This guy was just a miserable human being, and he was bringing his misery out on me."
Reed did say that he could still be a kicker in the NFL, saying that he had called Steelers coach Mike Tomlin about the kicker opening now that Shaun Suisham is out for the season.
"He hasn't gotten back to me yet."
Reed played for the Steelers for 8 years, and is second behind Gary Anderson for most points scored by a Steeler.
