Former Steeler Set For Trial On DUI Charge In Pennsylvania

YORK, Pa. (AP) - A former Pittsburgh Steelers fullback is heading to trial in Pennsylvania this week on a DUI charge.

The York Dispatch reports 44-year-old Jon Witman will be tried on Thursday for the alleged DUI, which took place Feb. 4 in Wrightsville, about 35 miles south of the state capital of Harrisburg.

The trial will be decided by a judge, not a jury.

It's the first of two DUIs Witman has been charged with since February.

Police say the six-year NFL veteran had morphine and a muscle relaxant in his system when he hit a guard rail and his vehicle got stuck.

Witman and his wife have been outspoken about his past addiction to painkillers and methadone.

His attorney says his client isn't making any public statements at this point.
