Former Steeler Ryan Mundy To Hold Local Youth Football Camp
PITTSBURGH (93-7 THE FAN) – Former Steelers defensive back and Pittsburgh native Ryan Mundy joined Chris Mueller on Thursday to promote the Breaston-Mundy Youth Clinic. Mundy will co-host the camp this weekend with Woodland Hills teammate Steve Breaston.
It will be held this Saturday at Turtle Creek Stadium.
Now a member of the Chicago Bears, Mundy played for the Steelers from 2008-2012, then spent one year with the New York Giants. He spoke about what it has been like to play for the royalty of the NFL.
He says that it started even in high school saying, "I've always been associated with the highest level of football programs at their respective level," which has prepared him to be a part of the of the most prestigious franchises in sports.
Mundy talks about the fourth year of his clinic with Breaston.
"It's a way for Steve and I to get back into the community," he said.
He talks about who the clinic benefits, but also notes, "it's a great experience for us."
Chris asks what players stand out as opponents that Mundy does not like to face. He says, "Calvin Johnson, Aaron Rodgers and Adrian Peterson," definitely require the most attention in his current division. He admits that the AFC North also had some serious offensive talent when he played for Pittsburgh.
Ryan talks about the importance of creating awareness about head injuries on a grassroots level. He thinks, "the NFL has done a great job with their 'Heads Up' campaign."
Mundy and Breaston will host the football camp for boys and girls ages 8 to 13. The non-contact camp is designed to improve a child's fundamental football skills. Campers will have the opportunity to learn football skills from the pros as well as the importance of teamwork, sportsmanship, communication and education.
The camp will be held at Turtle Creek Stadium on Saturday, July 12 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
