New details emerge involving bar altercation with former Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- New details have emerged following a bar altercation involving former Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto.

According to police sources, Peduto was at Cappy's Cafe in Shadyside on Saturday night when a group of people walked over to him and allegedly started insulting him.

That's when a bartender reported that Peduto pushed one of the men.

Police say that man then pushed Peduto to the ground inside the bar.

Paperwork says that's when the incident spilled out onto the street and police sources report Peduto was intoxicated and slurring his words.

Neither party involved filed charges and both refused medical attention.

Peduto served as mayor for two terms from 2014 to 2022, but lost his bid for a third term to the current mayor, Ed Gainey.
