Former Penguins GM Ray Shero Named GM Of New Jersey Devils
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Former Pittsburgh Penguins General Manager Ray Shero has returned to the National Hockey League. The New Jersey Devils announced Shero as their new GM on Monday.
Team President Lou Lamoriello announced the hiring and the team tweeted out the news.

The team says Shero will report to Lamoriello.
"Ray is well respected throughout the hockey industry and knows what it takes to win. His 22 seasons of NHL front-office experience will be beneficial to the NJ Devils organization. I look forward to working alongside Ray," Lamoriello said.
Shero served as the Penguins GM from 2006 to 2014, leading the organization to an overall record of 373-193, including back-to-back Stanley Cup appearances in the 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 seasons and finally winning the Stanley Cup in 2008-2009. before being fired in May of 2014 after the Penguins were defeated by the New York Rangers.
Now that Shero has signed on with another team, the Penguins will not have to pay him the remaining year of his contract that they owed him had he not taken another job.
Shero also served as the associate general manager of the U.S.A. Olympics Men's Ice Hockey team in 2014.
