Former Bethel Park police chief Timothy O'Connor passes away
BETHEL PARK (KDKA) - Former Bethel Park police chief Timothy O'Connor has died. O'Connor resigned in November from his position.
Before becoming Bethel Park's top cop, O'Connor worked for the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police.
Bethel Park police posted this message on its Facebook page:
"It is with great sadness the Bethel Park Police Department announces that retired Police Chief Timothy C. O'Connor has passed away. Please keep his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time."
"The Municipality of Bethel Park expresses its deepest condolences to the family, friends and past coworkers of former Police Chief Timothy O'Connor. Chief O'Connor was a dedicated law enforcement professional who served the Bethel Park community for many years until he recently transitioned from his position. We're asking that the privacy of his family be respected during this difficult time," the municipality said in a statement.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office said he died by suicide. He was 66 years old.
