Five Hospitalized After Two Vehicles Crash, One Man Facing Charges After Jumping Into The Monongahela River

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A 44-year old man is facing charges after attempting to avoid arrest on Sunday.

Pittsburgh Police responded to a two-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon.

Two vehicles crashed near the intersection of Bates Street and Second Avenue around 12:00 p.m. Sunday. In total, six people were injured as a result of the crash, and five people were taken to local hospitals. The five people transported are all in stable condition.

Troy Wamsley faces charges after attempting to avoid arrest by jumping into the Monongahela River.

Police say they caught up with him as he swam back to the riverbank.

Wamsley faces charges in the crash along with drug charges on an outstanding warrant.
