Fire Damages Butler Co. Trader Horn

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- A Butler County business will likely have to replace its roof after fire swept through the building Saturday morning.

Seven fire departments were called to the Trader Horn store on Route 422 in Franklin Township around 10 a.m.

Though the official cause of the fire has not yet been determined, employees believe a transformer may have shorted out and sparked the fire near the roof.

"The store, there's no merchandise damage at all, nothing got down to the store," said Pat Green, the operational manager. "The rest of it's just on the roof. So the front of the store and the roof, you're looking at the worst part of it. Most likely the roof will have to be replaced."

Workers say they are waiting to hear about insurance coverage and hope to reopen as soon as possible.

"It could have been much worse, everyone's out, everyone's safe," Green said.

He's also praising the firefighters for their efforts.

"They came, backed each other up," Green said. "They kept it just to the roof, so that's excellent."
