FBI: Vehicle Under Investigation At Their Pittsburgh HQ Is Spray-Painted With Bizarre Message

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- FBI Pittsburgh officials, Pittsburgh Police, the bomb squad and other investigators converged on the local FBI headquarters on the South Side Thursday morning when a car spray-painted with a bizarre message was found parked outside the back gate.

The first reports of law enforcement activity along East Carson Street came in around 5 a.m. when security agents noticed someone drive the sedan up to the gate.

Crews from the Pittsburgh Fire Marine Division were also called to the scene.

Investigators focused on a car parked at the back of the building. A firetruck was brought in to put a barrier up near the orange-colored vehicle while the initial investigation was being conducted.

A bomb squad robot performed a sweep inside the car. It was spotted on the passenger side of the vehicle early this morning.

An FBI spokesperson tells KDKA's Lisa Washington that "language" was found painted on the driver's side door of the car.

The message is written in white spray paint and all capital letters.

It reads: "Russia plants micro radio devices in ppls ears and controls them using a sound similar to a dog whistle. Subliminal hypnosis."

The Propel School and Center for Victims, located near the FBI office, opened their doors on schedule.

"There were not initial indications that there was any concern for public safety, but out of an abundance of caution we did alert the Propel School and the Center for Victims Services here next to us, as well as the Steelers facility," FBI Pittsburgh spokeswoman Catherine Polichiccio said.

Pittsburgh Police said they were assisting in the investigation.
