SOUTH UNION TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- A man is accused of attacking his wife with pruning shears Sunday afternoon in a Walmart parking lot.
State troopers were sent to the Walmart in South Union Township, Fayette County, just after 3 p.m. for a report of a domestic-related incident.
During their investigation, troopers learned that 55-year-old Robert Bruce Carpenter Jr., from the Bruceton Mills area, had agreed to meet his wife in the parking lot to exchange a debit card.
State police say Carpenter and his wife, who are separated, got into an argument, and Carpenter slashed all four tires on his wife's vehicle with pruning shears, then started to assault her.
Carpenter's wife suffered lacerations on her hand and forearm. She was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening wounds.
According to state police, Carpenter fled the scene before troopers arrived, but he was spotted about one mile from the scene and taken into custody.
Carpenter is facing multiple charges, including aggravated assault.
