20-Year-Old Charged With Homicide In Deadly Trafford Shooting

TRAFFORD (KDKA) -- A 27-year-old man is dead after police say he was shot multiple times in Trafford on Thursday morning.

It was an emotional scene.

Family and friends who knew the man gathered around in the parking lot of Haymaker Village Shops, which is right up the street from where the shooting happened.

Investigators said Westmoreland County 911 got a call for shots fired just after 6 a.m. This was in the 500 block of the Fifth Street Extension. Detectives found the man in the middle of Route 130. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and the medical examiner was called in.

Police said the shooting happened just across the border in Allegheny County, which is why Allegheny County homicide detectives have taken over the investigation.

Law enforcement says 20-year-old Jesse Chaz Parks of Verona is responsible for the shooting. He was arrested and charged with criminal homicide, tampering with evidence and receiving stolen property.

He was found hiding in a closet at a nearby home. Police say the gun used in the shooting was reported stolen from Somerset County, and Parks was wanted in Florida. He was also involved in a shooting in Monroeville over the summer, police say.
