Family Safely Escapes Stanton Heights Fire

STANTON HEIGHTS (KDKA) – A family was forced out of their home by an early Thursday morning fire in Stanton Heights.

According to officials at the scene, the fire started in the 100 block of Hawthorne Court around midnight.

Four to six people inside were able to get out safely before firefighters arrived.

The fire chief believes the fire started in the basement and spread through the walls. Additional crews were called in for extra manpower.

The cause of the fire is unknown, but does not appear to be suspicious.

The home suffered extensive damage and a building inspector will be back at the home on Thursday.
