Family, Friends Hoping For Miracle After Young Girl Shot In Knoxville
KNOXVILLE (KDKA) - An entire community is praying for the little girl who was shot in the head Sunday night as she walked home with her babysitter in Knoxville.
Family and friends are hoping for a miracle as Isis Allen remains in critical condition at Children's Hospital.
Theresa White, the grandmother of the child, said Allen is, "a beautiful spirit."
Allen celebrated her sixth birthday in May. She just finished kindergarten and was looking forward to first grade.
It has been a tough few days for the family.
"My daughter sent my granddaughter to her babysitter and some kind of fight broke out and somebody was involved close to the babysitter and after the fight, somebody shot a gun and my granddaughter is laying in the hospital fighting for her life," White said.
Police arrested 19-year-old Kamau Thomas Jr. Monday night. He told police, although he was not involved in the fight, a man in the crowd threatened him and indicated he had a gun. That's when Thomas fired a shot in the air.
"I forgive you and I am praying for you and your family that you never have to experience what your bad decision has done to my family," White said.
Tonight, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. the Lighthouse Church in Knoxville will open its doors to anyone who wants to come in for prayer.
The address is 810 Fisher Street, Pittsburgh, PA, 15210
