Ex-Principal Convicted In Exposing Case Sentenced To House Arrest, Probation

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A former local principal was back in court today where he was sentenced on charges he exposed himself at a North Hills gym.

Last month, a jury found 37-year-old Alfonzo Deiuliis guilty of exposing himself to three people in the sauna and shower at LA Fitness in McCandless.

On Tuesday afternoon, Judge Donna Jo McDaniel sentenced Deiuliis to six months of house arrest and five years of probation.

"What she said was, 'You're going to be on house arrest for six months. That's to run concurrent on both cases, five years' probation on the first case, and it's going to run concurrent to a second year on the second case,'" said defense attorney Phil DiLucente.

In addition, he is also not allowed in any public gyms, is not allowed contact with the victim or anyone under the age of 18, he also must attend treatment for sex offenders and is not allowed to consume alcohol.

The alleged incidents happened between February and August of 2013.

He was suspended without pay from his job at Brookline K-8 earlier this year.

Deiuliis denied all the charges against him, and says he was not in the sauna at the time of the alleged incidents.

The gym has since terminated his membership.

Deiuliis was convicted May 14 on charges of open lewdness, indecent assault and unlawful contact with a minor and other counts.

"While we did not agree with the jury's verdict, we do humbly agree with the judge's sentence," said DiLucente. "The judge could have imposed much, much harsher penalties."

He will also be required to register under Megan's Law for the next 25 years.
