Emergency Crews Called To Possible Trafford House Explosion

TRAFFORD (KDKA) – Emergency crews were called to the scene of a possible house explosion in Westmoreland County Monday afternoon.

According to emergency dispatchers, the incident happened on Western Avenue around 2 p.m. in Trafford.

Firefighters had to bring in extra water even though there were working hydrants nearby.

The flames first erupted from a fire in the home's garage. Fire quickly broke out and set a second house on fire.

The first home was completely destroyed.

"We did have to bring in tankers to supplement our water supply," said Larimer VFD Chief William Hardy. "Unfortunately some of the water lines up here are of a narrow diameter, so we did just bring in the tankers so we could have some extra water. Also with the volume of fire upon arrival, having three buildings on fire at once, it would really overtax the normal water supply."

No one was injured in the blaze.
