Ed Bouchette On Steelers Approach To Draft: "After Wide Receiver, I See A Lot Of Defense"

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) -Steelers General Manager and Head Coach Mike Tomlin met with the media earlier today to talk about the draft and the team's offseason so far.

After that press conference, Steelers Insider Ed Bouchette joined the Starkey and Mueller show to talk about what direction he sees the team going with their first-round draft pick when they go on the clock Thursday.

"I think they need a cornerback," Bouchette said.  "If maybe one of those top two receivers were still undrafted by their pick, it might be a decision, but I think one of those corners is going to be available, and the first round is the time to get them."

Bouchette also looked at what impact any players the Steelers draft could have on some veteran free agents the team let walk this offseason, specifically defensive end Brett Keisel.

"Just the way they talk about him, it doesn't sound like it," Bouchette said. "Mike Tomlin said that they're always interested in guys who are out there, but there was no love for Brett Keisel shown today. Nobody else seems to have shown some interest in him.  Once again, I think if they come up empty at defensive end in the draft, they have to look at him, but I would say right now I don't think so."

You can also hear Ed's thoughts on what the Steelers are thinking about Mike Adams and his future, as well as whether or not they'll be looking at offensive lineman in the draft and Sean Spence's future with the team below:
