Man charged in connection with Downtown Pittsburgh shooting

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — A man is facing charges in connection with a shooting in Downtown Pittsburgh in June.

According to Pittsburgh Public Safety, they were called the William Penn Place and Sixth Avenue for reports of a shooting just after 4 a.m. on June 25.

Once on the scene, they saw bystanders helping a man who had been shot. Medics then arrived to help. 

He was taken to the hospital in stable condition with a gunshot wound to the hip. 

On Aug. 11, Evan Gaither was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, possessing instruments of crime, robbery, persons not to possess a firearm, and a firearm not to be carried without a license.
