Ohio State Rep. Don Manning Dies From Heart Attack At Age 54

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Youngstown-area State Rep. Don Manning died Friday from an apparent heart attack, state Republican officials confirmed.

House Speak Larry Householder said Saturday that Manning, 54, of New Middletown, experienced chest pains on Friday afternoon and was taken to a hospital were he died.

Manning, of New Middletown, was in his first term representing the House 59th District, which includes most of Mahoning County.

"Don was a veteran, devoted father, public servant, and tireless advocate for the Mahoning Valley," state Republican Party Chair Jane Timken said in a statement. "My heart goes out to the Manning family during this difficult time."

Manning attended Springfield Local Schools and Mahoning County Career and Technical Center, and served in the U.S. Navy, The Warren Tribune Chronicle reported. He is survived by two children.

No details about services were available Saturday.
