Charges Dismissed Against Darrelle Revis In South Side Fight

PITTSBURGH (KDKA/AP) - All charges have been dismissed against former New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis following an alleged fight with two men in Pittsburgh last month.

Revis appeared in court for a hearing on Wednesday, where the case was dismissed.

Revis was accused of assaulting two men, taking one of their cell phones and threatening another man.

Late this afternoon, a Pittsburgh magistrate judge decided there was not enough evidence to hold the charges for Common Pleas Court.

The hearing was two hours long. Two big things that came out of it were cell phone video that has never been seen before, and testimony from a witness who came forward and said he was the one who punched the two men because they were jumping his friend, Darrelle Revis.

Cell phone video shows what led up to the incident on Sunday, Feb. 12 at 2:30 a.m. on Pittsburgh's South Side.

The video was taken by one of the men Revis was accused of punching.

The allegations were that once the video ended, Revis grabbed the phone, threw it in the street, and knocked the two men unconscious.

In court, both men testified they did not know or see who punched them.

What came as a surprise to the prosecution, Revis' childhood friend, Rashawn Bolton, testified that he punched the men because they had their arms around Revis' neck and waist.

Bolton admitted to taking the video that aired on TMZ. He also admitted that it's his voice you can hear talking about knocking both of them out.

KDKA's Paul Martino Reports:

After the dismissal, Revis' attorney, Bob Del Greco, said charges should have never been brought.

"Today, a judge exonerated Darrelle Revis of all charges because Darrelle Revis was factually innocent," said Del Greco

Revis said he just wants to get back to playing football.

"I have a passion for the game, just looking forward to free agency. And I'm excited about free agency, to begin the stages of it, and I got a lot of options to make and we'll see what happens," said Revis.

When asked about whether he hopes to play for the Steelers, Revis said, "That would be a dream come true, I tell you, to play for the hometown team. It would be."

Revis is from Aliquippa and starred at the University of Pittsburgh before the Jets drafted him 2007.

The witness who came as a surprise to the prosecution does have an attorney. There is a chance he could be charged, if the authorities make that determination.

His attorney Casey White told KDKA he has spoken with Pittsburgh Police and the Allegheny County District Attorney's Office and his client will cooperate with any investigation.
