Crosby Skates, Taking Concussion Recovery Day-By-Day

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Sidney Crosby took the ice today, but a timeline for return is still unclear.

On Monday, the Penguins announced that Crosby had suffered a concussion during a practice on Friday.

Crosby skated today and said he went "pretty hard."

"I feel pretty good. I was happy to be able to skate today and woke up Saturday morning and didn't feel great. Just got tangled up in practice on Friday and didn't really think anything of it. Saturday, didn't feel great. Having been down this road before, I just talked to the trainers and they felt that it's best to keep me out and go through the protocol," Crosby said.

Coming off a World Cup championship with Canada, there was speculation that Crosby could have suffered the injury during the tournament. However, Crosby put the speculation to rest.

"I think the [Penguins] stated it happened on Friday in practice, so I don't know why there would be any speculation about it being in the World Cup," Crosby said. "I'm not making this up. So, if nobody saw it, I don't know what to tell you."

He went on to explain that the incident in question would have been easy to detect.

As for where Crosby is in the process, he said he's just taking it one day at a time.

"I think the fact that so much has been talked about and we've learned so much even in a short period of time, I think there's a really good structure in place for how to get back and I feel confident and comfortable with everything. Just take it day-by-day," he said.

The Penguins will open up the regular season on Thursday against the Washington Capitals.
