Crime Stoppers: Family Looking For Answers In Man's Murder In Wilkinsburg

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Police are asking for help from the public as they continue to try to solve a murder from late last year that started as a shooting and ended in a crash.

Jerry Burgwin, 42, was a plumber and father of three when he died last December in a fiery Wilkinsburg car crash.

But, investigators say before the crash, his car was shot up.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner ruled Burgwin died of blunt force trauma because of the crash, despite the fact he suffered a gunshot wound to his side.

Keri Kolodziej, Burgwin's girlfriend, told KDKA-TV's Ralph Iannotti, "Jerry had a larger than life personality. He was the life of the party."

Now, she wants someone to come forward with information that could help investigators solve the crime.

"If someone could do this to him, they could do it to someone else," Kolodziej said. "If this happened to someone you cared for, you would want to know why, you would want justice."

Anyone with information on the case should call Pittsburgh Crime Stoppers at 412-255-8477.

There is a reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
