Crews Put Finishing Touches On PNC Park Ahead Of Wild Card Game

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - The Pittsburgh Pirates will take on the San Francisco Giants in the National League Wild Card Game at PNC Park tonight.

With the national spotlight on Pittsburgh, PNC Park has to look its absolute best. Final touches around the stadium began around 8 a.m. Wednesday.

"The crew has just been working very, very hard in establishing the proper field and the right field for the ballpark," PNC Park Executive General Manager and Vice President Dennis DaPra said.

DaPra said executing tonight's game is a lot of work, which began at the end of last year's regular season.

"There's a lot of time involved. In fact, as soon as the season is over, actually even before the season is over, we're planning for the postseason. You have to," DaPra said

With most of the work already shored up before today, grounds crews worked on the details such as tending to the field, the stands and everywhere in between.

No area of the ballpark will go untouched.

It may not guarantee a win, but it gives fans the best scenario to fuel the players to beat the Giants.

"The fans are what drives the process and definitely the players feed off of it. Everyone in the organization feeds off of it and without the fans, we wouldn't be standing here," DaPra said

The first pitch is scheduled for 8:07 p.m. Fans attending tonight's game are being asked to arrive two hours ahead of time.
