I-79 near Carnegie reopens after emergency repairs in the area
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Part of Interstate 79 is back open after shutting down Thursday afternoon for repairs to an emergency electrical issue.
All lanes of I-79 were closed from Kirwan Heights to the Carnegie exit. That closure started around 2:30 p.m., according to Bridgeville police.
The closure did not last long, but heavy traffic delays were expected this afternoon as a result.
Duquesne Light, PennDOT and state police were working on repairs to a downed electrical wire on an overpass above I-79 in the South Hills region. The closure allowed for repairs to a damaged wire and crossarm.
