County Homicide Detectives Looking Into Murder In McKeesport

MCKEESPORT (KDKA)- Allegheny County homicide detectives are investigating a murder in McKeesport.

Police were called to a home in the 1600 block of Jenny Lind Street around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

When officers arrived, they found Lavar Freeman, 37, of McKeesport, dead inside the home.

Police say when Freeman arrived at his home, there was a burglar or burglars inside his home. Freeman was shot in the chest and died at the scene.

Freeman's girlfriend found him inside the home and called police.

Allegheny County homicide detectives say they found shell casings of two different calibers at the scene, leading them to believe there may have been multiple burglars.

Police say the intruders entered the home through the back door.

An autopsy is scheduled on Freeman later today.

So far, no arrests have been made in the case.
