CONWAY (KDKA) -- Officials say a boil water advisory is in effect until further notice for hundreds of residents in Conway, Beaver County.
About 500 households had no water service at all, after a water main break Monday. A Conway fire official told KDKA-TV early Tuesday morning that service has been restored.
Crews had a tough time locating the break, but finally traced it to the corner of 3rd and 13th streets.
KDKA's Kym Gable Report:
Residents went to the Conway Fire Department Monday night, where officials were handing out bottled water.
"We've notified the residents that if they need water for drinking or sanitary washing, anything like that, to come up to the station and we'll supply them with whatever they need," Skocich said.
Those cases of water were donated by the Paul Davis company.
"It's going pretty quick, so hopefully we have enough to get everybody through the night," Paul Davis associate, Ed Renninger, said Monday night.
There is also a water buffalo at the Conway Fire Department.
The boil water advisory covers downtown Conway. Residents should let their water boil for one minute before drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth or using in food preparation. Residents should also avoid unnecessary water usage, like running dishwashers or washing machines.
