Convicted Drug Dealer Back In Jail After Police Find Money, Stolen Gun During Bust
AMBRIDGE (KDKA) -- It's not exactly found money, but it comes pretty close.
Police in Ambridge responded to a domestic violence call on Wednesday.
The guy they were looking for, 34-year-old Durrell Fortson, was not in the apartment where the domestic incident occurred. But, they found him nearby, carrying a green duffle bag.
Inside the bag, Ambridge Police Chief James Mann said was nearly $118,000 in cash.
Mann told KDKA-TV's Ralph Iannotti that the bag also contained a loaded Glock pistol reported stolen from Greene County and a 30-round magazine.
"This was the largest money seizure in the history of the Ambridge Police Department, and possibly in Beaver County," Chief Mann said.
Officials say Fortson is a convicted drug dealer who did time for his alleged role in a heroin distribution operation.
He is not a native of Ambridge nor did he grow up there, but he was living in the community under federal supervision as a result of his drug trafficking conviction.
For the time being, Fortson is being held in the Beaver County Jail after a judge revoked his bail because he violated terms of his federal probation.
