Connellsville Congregation Coping After Church Damaged By Flooding
CONNELLSVILLE (KDKA) -- Members of the Connellsville Church of God can't get into their sanctuary. It was damaged by last Sunday's flooding, but you would never know.
"We are going to survive. We are going to continue doing ministry until we can get back over to our sanctuary," said Reverend Nelson Carter.
Much of the damage was focused in the Fellowship Hall where a wall collapsed.
"We had volunteers from everywhere, coming in from Uniontown, Scottdale, Greensburg. We even had one lady -- she brought food in from Irwin," said Jim Crider.

While they are amazed by all the helping hands, they are most grateful that no one was hurt.
"When that row snapped of window glass, one person had said we got to get out of here it's going to collapse. So we ran out the door and just as we got out the door, the wall collapsed," one witness said.
The tables and everything in the room was destroyed by the wall collapse. Now the church is focused on ministering to those who lost everything.
"These flood victims Father, they need your touch. They need hope today. They need assurance today. They need to know that there is a god out there that cares about them Father."
