Police: Man Claiming To Be Jesus Crashes Car Into House, Strips Naked

CONNELLSVILLE (KDKA) -- Police say a man stripped naked, claimed he was Jesus Christ, and got into a tussle with a state trooper after crashing his car into a home in Fayette County this morning.

The fiery crash happened around 8:30 a.m. in the 600-block of Blackstone Road in Connellsville.

Police, paramedics and firefighters rushed to scene of the crash and two-alarm fire.

Officials say the SUV lost control, crashed into the side of the home and then caught fire.

"Upon our arrival at approximately 8:30 this morning, it was dispatched to a vehicle accident, vehicle into a house," said New Haven Hose Company Chief Jeffrey Layton. "Upon our arrival, we found the basement fully involved with fire and the fire quickly spread throughout the structure."

After the crash, officials say the driver got out of the SUV and began acting erratically. He has been identified as Darren Warner of North Huntingdon Township.

Police say after Warner got out of the vehicle, he stripped off all his clothes, started screaming about being Jesus Christ and then began walking down Route 119.

"We received calls from passersby that the male was walking up Route 119 naked at the time," State Police Trooper Stefani Lucas said. "They attempted to take him into custody, he fought with them and one trooper was punched in the face during the altercation."

Several other troopers were able to subdue him. He has since been taken to a hospital in Pittsburgh for a psychological evaluation.

Investigators say Warner will be facing charges.

A family was in the home, having breakfast, when the vehicle crashed into it and smoke started filling the house. They were shaken but not injured. The house though sustained significant structural damage.
