Clairton Man Arrested After Lengthy Crime Spree

CLAIRTON (KDKA) - Ed Fowler, 26, of Clairton, certainly gave police a run for their money over the past few days.

"A litany of charges he faces. A long list," Clairton Police Sgt. James Robert Corozza said.

Fowler is accused of robbing the Dollar General in Clairton Sunday evening.

"He made a statement to the cashier something along the lines of keep the register open. I don't want to hurt anybody or something along those lines. And motioned under his shirt," Corozza said.

He took off with $200 and when police got to the scene, he was nowhere to be found.

"The following day, one of our undercover officers encountered that individual. He was in a stolen car, I believe that was stolen out of Pleasant Hills," Corozza said.

The criminal complaint says Fowler was driving a stolen 2000 gold Jaguar when he was spotted back in Clairton.

Police proceeded to chase Fowler.

During the chase, Fowler came close to hitting several cars, including a Clairton Police car.

The chase was stopped when Fowler took off into West Elizabeth.

Police say Fowler later abandoned the Jaguar. At one point, he was tracked to Jefferson Hospital, where he was still yet to be found.

"He went out to Washington County, where he committed a few more crimes," Corozza said.

State police out of Washington said Fowler broke into a house on Tuesday and stole roughly $6,000 in cash and a handgun.

He was also driving a stolen Ford pickup truck, which was later found in Greene County at a general store.

He was arrested Tuesday evening during a foot pursuit in the city of Washington.

Police later recovered the handgun and stolen cash. He also faces multiple charges out of Washington.

Fowler is in the Washington County Jail. His bond is set at $250,000.
