Churchill Borough Council To Discuss Amazon's Plan For Westinghouse Property

CHURCHILL (KDKA) - Today, the Churchill Borough Council will discuss the possibility of Amazon moving into their neighborhood.

The discussion will center around the plan to turn the old Westinghouse property into a distribution facility.

Some residents are expressing their opposition to the plans. They have been posting signs around town, and they have been circulating a petition, which has over 700 signatures.

They are worried about the noise and traffic it could bring.

If the plan goes through, the old Westinghouse property would be turned into an Amazon distribution facility.

The Churchill Borough Council President has said this would bring life to an abandoned property, create jobs, and bring in millions of dollars in taxes.

The borough manager tells KDKA there will be no final decision tonight, but the planning commission is expected to vote to table it to their June meeting.

Residents will get 3 minutes to speak.

The virtual meeting will begin at 7 p.m. on Wednesday night and it can be attended by following this link.
