Woman, 76, Killed In Butler County Car Crash

SUMMIT TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- A 76-year-old woman died after a car crash in Butler County Friday afternoon.

State police identified the victim as Judith Fry, of Butler.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Route 422 and Keck Road in Summit Township just before 5 p.m. Police say Fry was stopped in the left westbound lane of the highway, waiting to make a left turn onto Keck Road. The driver in the car behind her, who was cited for following too closely, crashed into the back of Fry's car.

The second car spun into the eastbound lanes of the highway, while Fry's vehicle was pushed straight in the left westbound lane before coming to a final rest. The airbags in Fry's vehicle did not deploy upon impact, and she was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. She sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
