Boil water advisory for parts of Butler, Beaver counties lifted

Parts of Butler and Beaver counties under boil water advisory

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — A boil water advisory impacting parts of Butler and Beaver counties has been lifted. 

Penn American Water said Thursday that the advisory was for 900 customers living in portions of Butler, Butler Township and Center Township.

A 12-inch water main break caused a loss of positive water pressure, "which signals the existence of conditions that could allow contamination to enter the distribution system through back-flow by back pressure or back siphonage," Penn American Water said. 

On Sunday, Penn American Water said acceptable test results were collected on Friday and Saturday and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection authorized lifting the advisory.
