Burglars Break Into Westwood Shop 'n Save Through Roof, Police Investigating

WESTWOOD (KDKA) – Police are investigating after a grocery store in the city's Westwood neighborhood was burglarized Tuesday morning.

According to police, the incident happened around 6 a.m. at the Shop 'n Save on Noblestown Road.

Investigators say the burglars entered through the roof and rifled through the entire store, including the pharmacy and the office.

The burglary has left nearby residents shaken.

"Just a little bit too close to home," said customer Kathy Sluk, of Oakwood. "I'm only about a mile and a half from here, so I hope they catch them."

"I heard about it this morning. We were just curious about whether the front of the building or the back of the building roof was broken into," added Ginger Quinn, of Carnegie.

Police haven't said what was taken and store workers performed an inventory Tuesday afternoon.

"At first I thought it was electric, but I found out it was a robbery, that somebody broke through the roof and I think the pharmacy got hit and it's an undetermined amount of money," said Sluk.
