Bullet found on Shaler school bus

SHALER, Pa. (KDKA) — Shaler police said an investigation into a bullet found on a school bus revealed that a student forgot it was in his pocket until it fell out.

In an email sent to parents, the Shaler Area School District said the bullet was found after elementary school pickup on Wednesday morning.

According to police, an eighth grade boy was at camp over the weekend with friends and parents and had a leftover round in his pocket that he had forgotten was in there. When he reached into his pocket to grab his phone, police said the bullet apparently fell out. His parents confirmed the story.

The boy will not be charged and the school will follow their own procedures in dealing with the student, police said. "There was no ill intent in this case and no threat to the safety of the school students or staff," police wrote in a press release.

There was an increased police presence throughout the district on Wednesday as a precaution.
