Bud Dupree's College Coach: 'You Don't Find Too Many Guys That Can Do The Things He Does'
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - To learn more about the Steelers' first-round draft pick, outside linebacker Bud Dupree, Starkey and Mueller talked with Kentucky's defensive line coach who coached Dupree for two seasons when he played on the Wildcats' defensive line.
Jimmy Brumbaugh worked with Dupree as he played on Kentucky's defensive line at times throughout his career and said he's one of the most versatile players he has ever seen.
"The first year we were here, we were in a 4-3 and he would play the 4-3 defensive end," Brumbaugh said. "He can play both, he can play outside linebacker, he can play 4-3 defensive end. He's a special player and a special athlete."
Brumbaugh went on to talk about what a unique player Dupree is in that he does a lot of things well.
"Usually most guys are either good rushers or are droppers," Brumbaugh said. "He's physical at the point of the attack. He can play against a 350-pound offensive tackle or he can play against a 260-pound tight end that's running vertical. You don't find too many guys that can do the things he does."
Brumbaugh also talked about what sort of person Dupree is off the field and told us about the two plays he made during his college career that really stick out to him.
