Brentwood Residents Cleaning Up After Water Main Break

BRENTWOOD (KDKA) -People in Brentwood are cleaning up after a large water main break Tuesday morning.

Around 7 a.m., a 6-inch water main burst, which sent a significant amount of water gushing down West Willock Road and Olancha Avenue.

"We got a call for water entering a residence on Willock here. We pulled up on scene, the homeowner advised us he had some minor water in his garage," Brentwood Volunteer Fire Department Chief Daniel Niecgorski said.

Two homeowners had water in their garages.

inside one of those garages was at least two cars, including a Corvette and a Jaguar.

"The amount of damage, I can't determine at this time. The garage does have some cars in there and there's a lot of household goods in there," Chief Niecgorski said.

Fire crews worked quickly to pump out both garages.

In total, six Pennsylvania American Water customers lost service. Officials said water should be restored by late this afternoon.

Also, a disaster restoration team with the water company was on the scene working with homeowners to clean up debris.

Firefighters said they didn't have many unexpected challenges.

"Luckily it, with the flow of water, it wasn't as slippery. It didn't ice up yet, it didn't have a chance to ice up," Chief Niecgorski said.
