5 shot at Lawrence County bar

ELLPORT, Pa. (KDKA) - A suspect is in custody after he allegedly shot and killed a woman while injuring four others at an Ellport bar.

Nathan Fink, 40, was taken into custody without incident on Saturday following the shooting at Breakers Pub in Ellport, Lawrence County.

According to the Lawrence County coroner's office, the woman killed in the shooting was Crystal Wawrzynski of Elleport.

People who live near where the shooting took place say it was a senseless act of violence in a place that is normally peaceful.

"It's mostly a quiet neighborhood. The most we get is some fireworks for the Fourth of July, but that's really about it," says Jamieson Forbes, who lives near the bar. "It was about 2-2:30 in the morning [when] we awoke to loud noises. The first went by, and about a minute later, there [were] 10 to 12 more shots after that."

Evidence markers littered the front of the pub. Other targets include at least one car nearby.

In addition to the at least 10 rounds that struck the bar, as well as the one that went into the man's car and his garage, two more rounds struck a nearby home.

Not far from the shooting location, a man later identified as 64-year-old David Huzinec, was on the second floor of his apartment when a bullet came through the wall, went through his one leg, and lodged into the other. He was last listed in stable condition at an area hospital.

In addition to the loss of Crystal Wawrzynski and the injury to Huzinec, others who were shot include Wawrzynski's husband, who was released from the hospital, 41-year-old Joshua Lyons, and 35-year-old Edward Martin.

In a media release, state police say, after an altercation involving Fink and other patrons, Fink was asked to leave the bar. He returned to the parking lot and opened fire, shooting a rifle and handgun at the exterior of the bar, striking multiple vehicles, and penetrating the main entrance door, also striking those inside.

Fink then traveled along Portersville Road and continued to fire his weapon at multiple businesses and residences, state police added.

Fink has been charged with criminal homicide and recklessly endangering another person. He is being housed in the Lawrence County Jail.
