Brandon Fusco: Happy To Be A Viking
PITTSBURGH (KDKA 93-7 The Fan)- Seneca Valley and Slippery Rock graduate Brandon Fusco is a guard for the Minnesota Vikings.
Fusco signed a five-year, $25 million extension before the season began. Fusco told Tab Douglas and Joe Rhoades Saturday that it's a relief to have the deal done.
"I wasn't the best player coming into the NFL at first, had my struggles and had to learn the game and learn the speed and strength of the players and just developed each year. My coaches had the confidence in me to stick with me. To finally get a deal done is a big relief before the season, and I'm just happy to be here in Minnesota for the next five years," Fusco said.
Douglas asked how difficult it is to deal with the off-the-field distractions that have come with Adrian Peterson.
"It's really unfortunate. We're obviously missing Adrian. He's a big part of our offense, a big part of this league. He's a big idol to a bunch of kids. He's a big face of this organization, the league. It's unfortunate," Fusco said.
Fusco is out for the rest of the season after he tore a pectoral muscle against the Saints.
"It was terrible news. I took it pretty hard. I'm on the IR. I've never really been hurt in my life. I mean, (I've) never had a surgery other than tonsils, I think," Fusco said. "This is all new to me."
