Woman's Body Found At Old School Building In McKees Rocks

McKEES ROCKS (KDKA) -- Officials are investigating after a body was found Tuesday morning at an old school building in McKees Rocks.

According to emergency dispatchers, the body was found in the 1100-block of Wayne Avenue.

Police say the woman's body was found on the third floor of the abandoned building.

Allegheny County Police responded to the scene, in addition to McKees Rocks Police and the McKees Rocks Volunteer Fire Department.

Allegheny County Police investigators cannot say at this time whether or not they're calling the death suspicious.

Tuesday night, the Allegheny County medical examiner's office identified the victim as 57-year-old Carol Lau. The time of death was 9:03 a.m. Tuesday.

The cause and manner of death have not yet been determined.

Police say the former Miles Bryan High School has been closed for about 20 years now. Neighbors say people going in and out of the vacant building has become a problem.

"We know that there are vagrants that go in and out, kids that go in and out," said Claudia Froehlich, a neighbor. "I know people have spent the night over there. They need to secure the school."

Police say they've received calls in the past about it, but nothing recently.
